Visual outcomes in pediatric traumatic cataract

To study epidemiology, biometry and visual outcomes (with or without posterior capsulorhexis) in cases of pediatric traumatic cataract. This was a prospective observational conducted on 30 children cataract belonging to an age group less than 16 years. All patients were subjected detailed history ocular examination. Patients underwent surgery with intraocular lens (IOL) implantation. Posterior capsulorhexis optic capture done all presenting primary capsular opacity. followed up till 6 months surgical terms Best Corrected Visual Acuity (BCVA), axis opacification (VAO) observed. Firecracker injury found be the most common causal agent, by arrow ball injuries. Males more commonly injured females (70%:30%). Open-globe frequent closed globe (CGI) (53.3%:46.7%). Anterior rupture preoperative complication. Mean axial length 22.53 which not significantly different from fellow eye. 3 left aphakic, 10 single piece IOL implantation multipiece chamber (ACIOL) implanted one case. Intraoperatively have plaque capture. acuity improved 21 out eyes baseline after (p<0.001). 9 (30%) had (PCO) follow up. opacity cataracts can effectively managed
